S.R.C.

January 9th, 2012

Last year the Student Representative Council organized a “food drive” to encourage students to donate food to the local food hamper program. This year we did the same and are pleased to announce that nearly 2000 food items were collected and delivered to the community program. Thank you to everyone – students and parents – for supporting this worthwhile cause. At this time of year, we recognize that we have much more than many and are pleased to see the generosity of Langenburg High School.

Once again, the annual Christmas dinner was successful thanks to many people who helped make it so. Thank you goes to all the following: to all the parents who so willingly donate food for over 250 people; to the parents who willingly help prepare the food at home, help with kitchen preparations, and clean-up at the school; to Mr. Kinney for delivering left-over food after the banquet; to all the teachers and students who help move tables, chairs, and set up the stage in preparation for the event and then do the reverse after the fact; to Mrs. Sastaunik, Abigail Vandenameele, and Teanna Wallin for organizing the Christmas Banquet; to Kalandra Haas and Kayla Adam for organizing the Christmas Dinner Program; to all the students and teachers who participated in the program to make it so much fun for all.

Build-A-School

January 9th, 2012

The major goal of the 2011-2012 Student Council is to “Build-A-School” in a third world country. We can actually build an entire school for $8.500. We have already started fundraising for this goal and will devote our energies to realize this goal in 2012. The twenty student council members and advisors have donated $10 each – what they would have spent on sharing Christmas gifts – to the school building fund. Also, a special thank you to the entire grade seven class and their parents who so generously donated to the project. Mrs. Zerr’s and Mrs. Kinney’s (substituting for Mrs. Neustaeter) classes decided to forgo Christmas gifts in order to collect money for this worthwhile project. The student council’s donation of $230 and the grade seven donation of $252.32 have begun the process of fundraising. We will keep you posted on up-coming fundraising events toward this goal.
